UGH!!! No break...Literally!
Okay, this will be a quick one. As I wrote in my last post, we took L to the pediatrician on Monday, she has a tumor, has to have it removed, etc. (if you didn't get that story, see below). I'm upset because my poor baby is having to have another surgery , G's upset because this is the third year in a row that L has had surgery or been hospitalized this time of year and L is upset because she's 2. Anyway, Monday night we had a friend of mine from high school and her husband over for dinner. (A and J, you are my witness that this injury was not from the back flips off the couch Monday night!) It was great to see them and the visit really kept our minds off of everything else. So Tuesday, L and I pack up and head out to work (my parents house). Everything is going as normal, start laundry, feed kids lunch, switch laundry, clean up from lunch, put L down for nap, switch laundry, run kids here, switch laundry, do some cleaning, switch laundry, run kids there....You get the idea. At about 5:00 I was trying hard to wrap things up so that G and I could go to a friends house for dinner. The kids came in and told me that L had been hurt on the trampoline. She came in and was fussing, but a) she's a female and b) she's 2,I checked her out and went about my work. When we got ready to go, I noticed she wasn't able to walk on it. After talking things over with my mom, dad and G, I decided even if it was broken they couldn't cast it tonight because of the swelling, so we decided to give it until morning and reevaluate. We propped it up, gave her some Motrin and went on to our friends house. After dinner, L and our friends baby, who is 11 months old, played on the floor and L continued doing the army crawl around. So, (this is where you gripe because I said this would be short....SORRY!) this morning we got her up and made no mention of her foot, went in the living room and tried to set her down. She freaked out! Before she even touched the floor she was screaming. We figured if she had remembered that it had hurt all night, it probably needed to be looked at. We took her to the doctor, again, and she said it wasn't a place that she could have sprained (the very top of her foot) and sent us for an x-ray. L did awesome! She laid so still and even made sure to say "Cheese". If only she would do that for pictures! Later this afternoon, they called and said there was no obvious break and to treat it as a really badly bruised bone. Basically, we are supposed to let her crawl around on her belly until she feels like walking again and let her do what she feels like. The good - no cast, no Pediatric Orthopedist appointments (don't those just sound pricey?) and hopefully no more doctors visits period. The bad - No support to help it heal, may take as long as a break to heal and it is very painful. The ugly - A very active 2 year old, who has no way to get her energy out and a cranky mommy! We shall survive! Hopefully with a good, drug induced, sleep tonight we will all be back to normal soon. God really has taken good care of us and protected us! We also had a wonderful suprise this week when G got a much deserved Christams bonus early. Unfortunately, we know right where it's going (see "medical bills").

We have been very lucky with Rylan and have had no major injuries. However, I can't tell you the times we have had those "bad bruise" injuries. I know how crabby we mommies can get. When my niece gets upset and needs to find her happy place she just repeats "Peaceful meadows, Peaceful meadows". I will be praying for peaceful meadows for both you and Leah.
Oh my! The fun never stops at the Courington house! Hmmm, know anyone with a pool?? Maybe she could go swimming a couple times a week to get some energy out? Going to the park to swing for a bit? Gosh, that has to be hard!
