After seeing the masses, we knew we would have at least a 30 minute wait and left for the gas station. It was now 3:30 and I hadn't eaten anything since dinner last night. I filled up the tank and bought some crackers and sprite for our favorite dinning experience, once again. We rushed back to the parking lot at the doctors office and I let L come up to the passenger seat. It was absolutely beautiful out today and I couldn't stand to be enclosed anymore. We moved our little picnic to the curb outside. Unlike the waiting room, the parking lot had a nice breeze and was so peaceful and quiet. We ate our crackers and enjoyed the sunshine on our faces for the first time in over a week. At one point L jumped up and I reminded her we were in a parking lot and needed to stay where we were.
My phone rang and it was our turn. I went back to the car to hide the evidence of our picnic and noticed why L had jumped up. My poor baby has had a worse week than me! A bird had pooped right on the back of her head. All down her beautiful, golden curls. When I told her she sounded a bit surprised and said, "IT DID?!?!", as if it was yet another great first. I about died. I guess God knew that we needed something to laugh about. That's why the bird didn't hit me. I would have freaked! I would have cancelled the appointment and been at home with a bottle of rubbing alcohol scrubbing my freshly washed hair. But not L, a wipey later she was good to go.
The doctor told us that she thinks L is just having a hard time kicking the flu and probably has a sinus infection on top of that. When she's not gagging from the flu, she is from all the drainage. She gave us an antibiotic which will, without failure, give her more diarrhea and tummy aches. She just can't catch a break. The doctor was also a little concerned about her weight, again. She weighs 25 pounds which is what she weighed 6 months ago at her 2 year well check. She's in the 9th percentile for weight. I think we might try and get her to drink some Pediasure and see if we can't bulk her up. She had done so good about eating, in the last month or so, but I am sure this illness will put her back a little. Who knew my kid would have a lack of weight problem!
My baby knows how to end a long day, soaking in the tub...and we needed to make sure all the bird poo was gone.
We went to dinner tonight and I managed to eat my first meal since Monday. My body is in shock. Hopefully we will all get some good rest tonight and the nourishment will help us feel better. Unfortunately, we have our belt test for Tae Kwon Do in the morning. This feels like it might be the wrong week for it since I've spent the last 96 hours laying on a couch, the floor or in bed. I'm sure I'll be nice and limber and ready to go!
