And then there were three

On Thursday, a good friend of mine, C, was hospitalized due to some complications with her pregnancy. C's 2 year old son, T, is L's best friend. They are 9 days apart in age and have always been buddies. G and I offered to help out with T where we could since there is a good chance she will be hospitalized for up to 6 weeks. So on Friday, G's mom (who was kind enough to come help out) and I took L and T down to the Houston Zoo. The weather was really nice and we were able to beat most of the spring break crowd. We left our house a little after 9 and made it to the zoo (after picking everyone up and a few stops) around 11. The kids had a great time and were so well behaved.

We left the zoo at about 3 o'clock and the kids fell asleep pretty soon after. On the way home I got a call from another friend, C, letting me know he was home early from work . He had made arrangements several weeks ago to surprise his wife, K, with a trip to a bed and breakfast for their anniversary and G and I offered to keep their 1 year old, Cl. We decided to stop and pick her up on the way back to the house, instead of having to get back out. We picked her up and took Mammy home. I am glad to know that we can fit 3 car seats in the back seat of our car, but heaven help us if we ever have to do that on a regular basis.

Cl, L and T in the party wagon

L woke up and was so excited. She said, "now all of my friends are here". We took T home and then met up with G for dinner. Cl and L had a lot of fun playing hide 'n seek, playing on the swing set and wore each other out quickly. By 9:30 they both were out cold for the night. Today we got up and let the girls play some more. Around lunch time, C and K made it back to the area and we all rode bikes over to Market Street for lunch and to let the kids play in the fountain. L did so well with Cl this time. In the past she has been way too rough and bossy with her. I think she has finally realized that Cl is still a baby, in some senses, and has figured out how to interact with her. After lunch, we took a quick nap and then met up with M and LQ for the night. I don't know whose idea it was to make Daylight Savings time this weekend, but I wish they had checked my calendar first. Of all weekends to lose an hour of sleep, this is NOT it. Overall we had a wonderful weekend and really enjoyed having time with Leah and her friends. However, I am very tired and headed off to bed now. Good night!
