6 Months and Rolling

Well, we just got back from my doctor's appointment. The doctor was running behind because of some emergencies this morning. That's to be expected. The waiting room was packed. I think it was bring your "cousin's parents and anyone else who can make it" to your appointment day. I mean seriously 4 adults, a kid and a baby for one persons ultrasound? Oh, well.

We had another ultrasound done and Baby Cakes proved to be just as stubborn as ever. We did get to see all four chambers of her heart after a little work. We also got confirmation that she is a she. Good to know. Other than that, we didn't see much.

I had a whole list of questions for the doctor and boy, were they odd. I have had some of the weirdest things this pregnancy. For some reason, a few months ago, my feet started smelling bad. I figured it was the relatively old pair of shoes I was wearing and put on a different pair. A few hours later, same thing. I went to the store and bought Odor Eater everything; inserts, spray, etc. After a few days, the inserts smelled so bad, I had to toss them. Having an overwhelming sense of smell with pregnancy only compounds the problem. I finally broke down and went to buy new shoes. Just trying them on, I cleared out the entire shoe department. Pretty sad. Anyway, the doctor gave me a really weird look and said, "try some powder?". My theory is that since I am not peeing much (or as much as a pregnant women should) that my water waste has been going through my feet. Who knows? For now all I know, is spray, spray, spray.

I've also had a mysterious rash that shows up from time to time. It's been on my hands, arms and legs. Of course it was all over my hands yesterday, but no where to be seen today. The doctor said it was a little early for pregnancy rashes to start, but wanted me to stop in the next time it happens.

One of the other problems I have been having is that when Baby Cakes kicks or hits, it feels as if she is hitting my, for lack of a better term, pelvic wall. You know the stop you tighten during a Kegel? Well, that is my babies punching bag. It makes it impossible to ignore and quite often will bring me to my feet at inopportune times. I need to learn to yell "hallelujah" afterward so I don't look quite as crazy. After the ultrasound we found out that this "pain" is because my little, sweet baby is basically making the shape of a rainbow. Her spine is up running along the curve of my ribs, but her head, both feet and both hands are pointing due south. Now I have a number of petite friends and I can understand their babies being in odd positions and running out of space, but HELLO!!!! She has like 40 acres to stretch out in, learn the backstroke, run laps, whatever she wants to do, and she chooses to cram every extremity she has in a 3 inch end of the funnel? Nice.

Of course, because of this odd positioning it was, yet again, impossible to see a cute profile. I asked the doctor about the 3D ultrasound and she said, "Yeah, you could probably see the round part of the back of her head". Oh joy! So unless she decides to flip or something, we probably will not get to see much of her before delivery.

It is probably a good thing I have to have a C-Section. If I tried to deliver vaginally with either of the kids the doctor would probably laugh and ask, "Just how do you expect us to get her out?".

I guess that's about it for the update. I start going in every 2 weeks from here on out and have to do the glucose screen at my next appointment. Until then...

For what it's worth, I haven't noticed any unusually bad odor emanating from your feet.
