Make Believe

Sweet Pea has a wonderful imagination. She always has. She is the only three year old that I know that will spend an hour putting pretend quarters into the crane game at a restaurant. She even brings back "prizes" for everyone at the table and explains in great detail what they all are. The last few weeks she has enjoyed playing "Mommy and Daughter" with anyone that will oblige.

Yesterday we played all...day...long... I was the daughter, Mary, and she was the Mom, Polka Dot. She doesn't quite get the concept of naming. We will hope that she outgrows this by the time she has kids. Throughout the day she would go to the hospital (the foot of our bed) and have another baby. At last count I think she was up to 4, plus me. Their names were Rose, Marco, Octopus and Bottle. She carried them around everywhere she went. She even put her little pack and play by her bed so they could sleep by her. Everywhere we went I was reminded that I was her daughter and she was my mommy.

Today when she awoke, she came in and asked, "How did you sleep, Mary?". Oh, no. I thought the game was over. This went on all morning. I had to work at my parents today and she made no mention of it all at their house. As soon as we got in the car to come home she asked, "So Mary, what do you want for dinner?".

I hope that she will always have such a good imagination and love pretending.
