Day 2 - The Magic Kingdom

Tuesday was our first day at Disney World, so it was almost a given that we go to Magic Kingdom first. We didn't set an alarm, as we have plenty of time to see everything, so we decided to get up when we got up.

Once we got to the park, we decided to let Sweet Pea choose our first ride, so we headed over to Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride. Both of the girls loved it, and it was the start of a great day. After Aladdin, we headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean. Peanut loved it, but Sweet Pea, even though she's been on it more than once, wasn't so sure. Luckily, Captain Jack was hiding throughout, and that settled her down a bit.

From there, we decided it was time for Sweet Pea to hit her first "big kid" ride. First up was Splash Mountain. She and Daddy-O went to ride it together first, getting a Parent Swap Pass, so that Mommy could stay with Peanut and then go and ride as soon as Sweet Pea and Daddy-O finished. Sweet Pea was ecstatic, and loved every minute of it, until about two seconds into the big plunge, where excitement turned into terror. She didn't ride it again with Mommy.

Big Thunder Mountain, a roller coaster based on a runaway train, was a different story. She rode it first with Mommy, and while she wasn't quite sure about it even as she rode, she ultimately decided that she liked it, and rode it again a second time with Daddy-O. After this, she declared Big Thunder Mountain her favorite ride.

By this time, it was almost time for lunch, so we made our way over to Cinderella's Castle. We had used part of our meal plan to make reservations for lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table, and that may have been one of our best decisions we've done. After checking in at the tunnel that goes through the castle, we were led into a side door of the tunnel. While we waited to have our name called saying our table was ready, we had pictures made with Cinderella herself. She was very sweet to both of the girls, and they ate it up. We looked into having a princess make over for Sweet Pea, but packages that included the dresses started at $189. That's right folks, just for a hairdo and dress. She's 4, it's a 2 hour lunch, so we skipped it.

After our picture, they called our name, and we were led up a winding staircase to Cinderella's Royal Table, which is on the second story of the Castle. It was very elaborate, with servants everywhere taking different table's orders. Sweet Pea and Peanut were each handed magic wands and a wishing star, and we were quickly seated. Soon after we were seated, Snow White came by to talk to the girls and sign autographs, followed by Sleeping Beauty, Belle, and Mary Poppins. The food was wonderful, the service was spectacular, and we were extremely impressed.

After that we went and rode several more of the rides of the park, including Goofy's Barnstormer (a roller coaster designed for little kids), Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, the Tea Cups, Peter Pan, Small World (a personal favorite of Peanut), the carousel (a favorite of both of the girls), Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, and road way cars.

We ended the day watching the fireworks while we ate dinner, and then headed back to the hotel. The girls were extremely well-behaved and they had a ball, and we loved having fun with them.

This is Mommy typing on Daddy-O's post so I will just add a few pictures (he's more wordy than picture-y).
