1 Year Old

My dear Kate-Kate, You are growing up so fast. There is not much "baby" about you any more.

This month you:
- Weigh 21 pounds, 7 ounces (50-75th %)

-Are 29 1/4 inches long (50-75th %)

- Have a head circumference of 18 inches (50-75th %)

- Are "perfectly" proportioned (even with your tiny feet and big thighs)

- Received one of Daddy-O's favorite hand-me-downs

- Wear size 4 diapers

-Wear mostly 12 month clothes and size 3 shoes

-Got to watch the Jayhawks play

-Have one of the best senses of humor (you think it is hilarious to pop

mommy's bra strap while you nurse)

- Will constantly repeat anything that gets a laugh

-Took a trip to the children's museum

- Got your 7th and 8th teeth (2nd bottom teeth on each side)(3/27)

- LOVE to read books

- Sleep from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am most nights
- Still turn your feet in and curl them under you

(which is why we are still having to do therapy), but it is terribly cute

- Take one 2-3 hour nap after lunch (even while we are out sometimes)
- Can stand up without pulling up on anything (3/24)

- Took 20 + steps at a time by 3/25

- Walked all the time by 4/15

- Refuse to crawl now that you can walk
- Have been very sick this month, all month

- Had your first round of X-rays

- Have been a tad on the cranky side

- Are very good at sharing with us how you feel

- Get very upset when you run out of food

- Have the cutest upset looks and pouts

- Cover your eyes with your hands and sob when we tell you no

- Enjoy rocking in rocking chairs

- Think that anything with a loop is a necklace,

including power cords and bra straps, and wear them as such

- Like to fly in the air and "stiffen up" your entire trunk to balance in the air

- Could spend all day, every day outdoors

- Now know how to smell using your nose instead of your mouth
- Know where your eyes, ears, hair, mouth, nose, feet, fingers and belly button are

- Have played at the fountains and love it

- Rub or twirl your hair when you are bored, tired or trying to soothe yourself.

This doesn't go so well after eating.
- Eat all table foods and have even had peanut butter and jelly

- Eat three meals a day at the table

- Nurse 3 to 5 times a day

- Have definite food likes and dislikes

- Like corn, raisins, ice cream, cheese, ham, pizza, fish, mac and cheese

- Dislike broccoli, hot dogs

- Can use a fork or spoon if we fill it for you

- Can drink out of a cup, can, straw or a faucet

- Met the Easter Bunny and didn't care much for him

- Caught on to Easter Egg hunts once you saw what was in them

- Celebrated your first Easter despite being really sick

- Still love to swing

- Are very cuddly when you want to be

- Are seriously attached at Mommy's hip

- Love your bath time or anything having to do with water

- Poop in the bath tub more than any child I know

- Will not go potty on the toilet

- Are the sweetest, funniest, most lovable 1 year old that I know!

- Are definitely your sissy's best friend!
