The Countdown Begins...

This week has been really busy. We have a big list of things that need to be done before we take a vacation. We leave one week from tomorrow to go to Orlando with G's family. We can't wait! L and I both caught a nasty cold last weekend and have yet to shake it. I don't know if it is from the weather changing or what, but it needs to leave. We both have felt really yucky and cloudy headed all week.

On Tuesday, my mom gave me my first sewing lesson (thanks Mom). She picked up some really cute fabric, that already had the smocking done, to make L a sun dress. It was pretty easy. The only problem I had is that I'm a major perfectionist and wanted to get it perfect on my first try. Overall the dress turned out cute. We also cut out the fabric for another dress and a hat. It was pretty fun.

When we got home, Daddy asked L about the dress that Mommy had made her. L kept telling him, "no Nana made it". He would tell her that Nana helped, but Mommy made it. This went on for a while until L finally gave in and said, "my dress that Nana AND Mommy made". She then looked at me like "are you happy now?". Also, Mammy dropped off a Granny gown that she had made for L. It is princesses and L loves it.

This cold has left me in such a funk. At Tae Kwon Do this week, I couldn't remember ANY of my form. I was so embarrassed. Then Wednesday afternoon I ran over to Wal-Mart to pick up some household things. After filling my cart to the top, I proceeded to the checkout where I realized I didn't have my bankcard. After calling G and confirming it was there, I had to have someone watch my cart, while I ran home to get it. I have been doing things like this all week. It's amazing I didn't lock my keys in the car or leave L somewhere or, heaven forbid, run out of gas.

Thursday night we planted a new oak tree (thanks Nana) in the front yard. We don't have many trees in the front of the house and our electric bill lets us know that it could use the shade.

Today has been a really busy day, but I got so much done. I had to be up really early for my well woman exam. I was getting L ready to go and explained to her where all we would be going today. When I told her we were going to Mommy's doctor, Dr. Francis, she asked me who her doctor was. I told her Dr. Haggerty. She said, "Oh yeah. My doctors better than yours is". I'm starting to really wonder about this child.

While I was at my appointment, the nurse said I needed to do a pregnancy test since I had been off of my birth control. She explained that there were cups in the bathroom and to leave it in the little window/door thingy. You know the drill. So I went in knowing I didn't really have to go, but could probably get enough to pass, wrote my name on a cup, sat down and went...a little. L looked over at me and said, "Mommy, are you going to pee pee in the cup?". I looked up at her in my foggy headed, cold medicine induced state and realized she was asking because I was staring at the cup, not peeing in it. Oh well! Like I said, I'm not all there this week. I think the nurse got a kick out of that one.

After my appointment, it was off to the hair dresser. I got my hair cut short again. I had tried growing it out, but after breaking a round brush in half trying to straighten it, I gave up. Besides right now I am spending so much time fighting with my 2 year old, I don't have a lot to spare. We then met up with my mom for lunch. Her birthday is on Monday so I thought that L and I would treat her to a nice lunch.

Boy was I wrong!

L was horrible during lunch. We left the restaurant twice for spankings and she still was bad. I know that she doesn't feel well, but this was ridiculous. Had I been sitting at a different table, I would have leaned over to my mom and whispered, "Gee, someone needs to get control of that child". I guess now the tables are turned. After our not so peaceful lunch we dropped L off at the curb so that G could put her down for a nap. Mom and I did a bunch of shopping at the mall and Target. It was good to get out without hauling the 25 lbs. screaming monster around and even better spending time with mom. I am amazed how much you can get done when you are without kids.

Tonight we met up with M, LQ, C, K and Cl for some ice cream and playing in the fountains. Now it's off to bed.
