Strawberry Fields

On Friday afternoon, the skies looked like this.

So my mom called to see if we wanted to go pick strawberries. We headed out to the King's Orchard to pick. Lisa, Caleb, J.T., Sarah, Michelle, Mom, L and I headed out after lunch. It was a little bit warm, but we had a great time. The strawberries were not in the best shape, but the quality time with each other was wonderful.

We spent several hours picking berries and then headed back to mom's house. L did great and picked at least 25 perfect strawberries all by herself. She caught on to the picking standards very quickly and had almost as much fun picking as she did sampling. At mom's house we washed and prepped her strawberries while she started making jelly. It smelled so wonderful. Micah, G, Chris, Kelsey and Clara then joined us for a dip in the pool and a movie with the kids. We had a great time. After we got home, I made up the strawberry pie. I guess it turned out okay for my first pie ever.
