Day 3

Tuesday, July 31st - Today my Mom, Lisa and I did some experimenting on the cabinets. The kitchen is painted burgundy, with some yellow, and has green cabinets. Under the paint we found beautiful oak cabinets and decided even if it was cosmetic, it was was worth fixing. Little did we know that under the green was a coat of burgundy and under the coat of burgundy was a coat of black. Some had some yellow on them too. I am not a big fan of painting natural wood unless it's in really bad shape. I couldn't believe that these had three coats on them! I really wonder about the people who lived here before. Anyway, we tested out some different strippers and sanding techniques to see what would be best.

Also, yesterday, while working, we noticed that it was a little warm in the house. Today we noticed that the a/c unit outside wasn't doing anything and all of the air blowing in the house was hot. We tried troubleshooting over the phone with my Dad and then called a friend of his who does a/c work. He came right over and checked it out for us. Apparently the contactor had burned up, so he replaced it and cleaned the whole unit. It never really cooled down today, but it did help to have a little circulation with all of the fumes in the house.
