Day 9 - Hollywood Studios

We woke up this morning, hoping that Mommy and Peanut were feeling better, and while they were, they still weren't ready to get out. It was my birthday, so Mommy insisted that we go out and have fun on the last day. So hesitantly, Sweet Pea and I headed out to Hollywood Studios for our last day at Disney.

The first time, we had done most of the rides, but hadn't seen any shows, so we focused on doing those this time. But first we went for our lunch reservation at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. The decor was really fun, as it was set to look like a 50's era house. "Mama" did the cooking, and "Cousin Lisa" took our order. They had a set of rules, which included no elbows on the table, and they would walk by and call you out on it if you did. They had TV sets throughout that played old TV shows like The Mickey Mouse Club and The Dick Van Dyke Show. Sweet Pea had her usual hot dog, and I had meat loaf. The food was alright, and the service itself wasn't that impressive, but it was still fun.

They had a World Book collection, just like my grandparents did!

After lunch, we headed over to the Great Movie Ride, which we had failed to get to in time the previous day that we were here. It is a slow-moving ride that moves through recreated movie sets such as Mary Poppins, an old west shoot-out, The Wizard of Oz, and Alien. The outside of the ride is made up to look like the entrance to Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, complete with movie stars' hand and foot prints in cement. They don't allow photography on the ride itself, but below are pictures of the outside and some of the props they have.

After that, we headed over to the Star Wars section of the park. We had ridden the Star Tours ride the previous day we had been here, but we went to do something a little different. When Mommy and I had come several years ago with my parents, we had a picture made at this part. Sweet Pea wanted to do one, too, so we went over there just to do it, as it didn't cost anything to actually have it done. But as they were doing it, an audience grew and roared when they put up on the screen the final product, so I went ahead and bought it as a birthday present for myself.

After that, we caught the tail end of the Block Party parade, which Sweet Pea loved as she does all parades, and were at the entrance to a new show, the American Idol Experience. Sweet Pea really wanted to go to it, and it was about to start, so in we went. You get to watch three of the day's park visitors sing one song on a set that looks just like the one in American Idol, and then are judged by three judges that imitate the style Simon, Paula and Randy. At the end, the audience gets to vote for the one they like. At the end of the day, the winners of the previous shows that day face off for a final show, with the prize being a ticket to the front of the line at an upcoming American Idol audition. It was actually a lot of fun, and Sweet Pea had a blast with it. I was able to snap a couple of quick pics before they made us put our cameras away.

We also were able to go see the Little Mermaid show, and finally the Playhouse Disney show, which is a puppet show with lots of singing and dancing based on Disney Channel shows. Sweet Pea had a blast at both of them, with the Little Mermaid being her favorite movie at the moment, and the Playhouse shows all familiar shows for her that she could interact with.

However, by this point, the bug was starting to claim it's next victim, and it wasn't Sweet Pea. I told her I was very sorry, but that we were going to have to get back to the hotel. So we quickly went to the front to pick up the girl's Mouse ears that were being embroidered and we headed back to the hotel. By the time we got back, I didn't know if I was going to make it to the room, but was still in denial that I was really sick. Mommy gave me some medicine, which knocked me right out, and so ended our Disney trip. Not that way we wanted it to end, but overall still a great time.
