TN - Day 3 - Tubin' for a Bruisin'

On Monday, we started with a meal of pancakes and bacon, compliments of chef Micah and Lisa, and headed out to Ober Gatlinburg. It is a ski resort that is up higher in the Smokies. To get there, you have to park in dowtown Gatlinburg and take an aerial tram up the mountain. The tram ride was fun and it gives you a great view of the mountains and the town.

When we got to the top, we ate a quick picnic lunch before our tubing time. You sign up for a time slot that is an hour and forty-five minutes long. From there, we were assigned a tube and headed up the conveyor belt to the top of the snow hill. The snow was man made, but for this group of kids from Houston (most of whom have never seen snow) it was more than enough.

We had an awesome time. The park wasn't crowded at all, so we almost had our own slot. There was a lot of smack talk, snowball throwing and racing down the slopes. The big joke was when some of the kids started filling each other's tubes with snow so that it would melt and result in a puddle to sit in. By the end of the time slot, I think Andrew and I tied for wettest bottoms. I think we were able to get at least 25 or 30 runs in. The babies weren't allowed on and Mom, Michelle. Micah and J.T. stayed off. Mom, Michelle, Kate and J.T. went to check out the black bear exhibit while we were tubing. Everyone had SO much fun and we were all sore by dinner. We took the aerial tram back down the mountain and had another great view.

We came home and had wonderful steaks, potatoes, corn on the cob and rolls for dinner. For desert, Leah came in and asked if she could have a "cob of corn". The kids thought that was pretty funny. We spent the rest of the evening watching movies, swimming and playing blind bandits. It was a very fun, very tiring day.
