TMI

The following post will probably contain too much information. If you continue to read, just remember, I warned you.

I went to the doctor's office today to drop off my urine specimen. I have been having some pain in my kidneys and blood in my urine for the last week or so and thought I better get it checked. They had no appointments open, but said they would go ahead and run some tests on it. I waited in the office while they did the initial tests. The doctor came out and handed me two prescriptions, instructed me to start taking them now and she would call me when they did some more thorough testing. So I guess I do have a bladder infection after all . I guess they may be checking my kidneys with the other tests.

The good news is that I went to get my prescriptions filled and after coaching myself the whole way to the pharmacy (ie: we DO have a $100 deductible, but you really DO need the medicine, just get it and worry about the rest later) I was only charged $20. Normally I would feel some what bad about sticking it to the insurance company, but after this, no way. I'll just consider it interest on my money that I overpaid three years ago that is just now being returned.

The other highlight is that one of the medicines they gave me is for pain and discomfort. It's some weird dye that numbs your bladder or something. All I know is I have never seen fluorescent orange pee before. Good thing it's almost Easter. If I don't need all the medicine for the pain, I could always dye eggs in it.

Yeah, I've heard of that stuff, but I don't remember it's name. You can also buy another med that does something similar that does the same thing. That's one of the things we as nurses would have to include in our "patient teaching!" Hope you get to feeling better!

Note to self: do NOT accept any Easter eggs from the Couringtons.
