Rolling On

I have some big posts for later, but thought I would give a quick update. Friday closing went really well. While we were signing papers, my mom and dad were fixing our plumbing problems. They are AMAZING. I am in awe of how giving they truly are. Once we got back up this way, G, his dad and my dad were able to get the new garage door on. G's mom and I pulled all of the kitchen cabinets off and removed all of the nails, light switch plates, air vents and outlet plates throughout the house. I hope this saves the painters some time.

Saturday we had L's birthday party. We had lots of fun. I will post more on that soon (with pictures!). During the party L started having problems with diarrhea, but we thought it was from all the sugar in the cake.

Sunday we went to church and emptied the storage unit.

Monday L woke up throwing up. She has obviously gotten the rota-virus, again. We had some help scheduled to come at 9, so we moved L into the office so G could keep an eye on her. I decided we had better take advantage of the help while we had it. My mom, Christa, Ruthie, Andrew, Caleb, Michelle and our neighbor's boyfriend, John, helped do a lot of work. We moved everything out of the attic, the patio furniture, swing set, playhouse, wagon, stroller, bikes, trailer and anything else we could find over to the new house. We then ripped out all of the carpet, tack (or tackless) strips, and base board out of the entire downstairs. We also took the old garage door and all of the flooring to the dump. What a demolition crew! During the middle of the demolition, the electric company came by to shut of the electricity. We were able to get it transferred and avoid being left in the dark. It was so hot, but everyone kept on going and never complained. John was so kind to come help out and to bring his trailer in for us to use. We couldn't have done it without him (Cheri - he's a keeper!)! By 1:00 we were done and G was calling often to see when I was coming home. L had a bad time most of the afternoon. We got her some medicine and just hung out the rest of the afternoon. G and I both have felt kinda yucky so we all drugged up and slept it off.

Today, L and I met my mom at the house to start stripping the kitchen cabinets. They are green with a coat of red and one of black underneath. I have no idea what look these people were going for, but they missed it. We noticed today that it was still very hot and the a/c unit outside wasn't doing anything. Just our luck! We tried troubleshooting over the phone with my dad (who is in L.A.) and finally called a friend who owns an air conditioning company. He came over and fixed it for us. He might be my new best friend. I guess the contacter had fried. Hopefully it will be cooler tomorrow. I think it was about 90 degrees in the house, with all of the fumes. Mom, Lisa and I worked until about 5:30, testing different techniques for removing paint. I still don't know which one is best! We decided to call it a night and will start again in the morning.

I guess that is the latest around here. I will try to post more soon with pictures.

Man, perfect timing for a stomach bug! So sorry you're having to deal with that on top of new house stuff. I hope she's feeling better. Let me know if I can help.
