We hope that you all have a happy and safe Fourth of July. Thank you to all the service men and women, past and present, for fighting to defend my (our) freedom.
I love the braids in the last post! Thanks for feeding Chris some meat while I was gone. I hear he didn't fare too well without his woman here to take care of him and cook meat for him :)
Before I forget (preggo brain) I wanted to comment on the SIDS post. I just read it (I'm behind!) I agree with you totally! (Did I shock you?) At work we put our babies on their tummies all the time. They digest better, their oxygen demand goes way down and they are just happier. Now, that being said our babies are all on monitors and when they reach a certain point we too stop doing that, take everything out of the bed and practice SIDS precautions. (The babies have to go home sometime and we teach the parents the SIDS precautions.) But, there are some babies that do better on their tummies or sides. When Jayden was a baby my Mom (on and off NICU nurse since before I was born!) hated puting him on his back to sleep. What if he spit up and aspirated or choked? We swaddled and put him on his sides and eventually on his tummy. Babies that have severe reflux would be an example of a baby that might actually be safer on their tummy vs. back due to the risk of aspirating and choking. I currently have severe reflux too and aspirated in the middle of the night. It scared that poop out of me! I can't imagine being a baby who can't cough effectively enough to clear her lungs. Anyway - I guess my point is don't feel bad or let people chastise you for your decision. I'm sure if you spoke with your pedi about it they would have a similar opinion.
